S. erythraeum from Rila, Bulgaria differs from the type by the fact that the rosettes produce a rather deeper tint of red.

Pretty typical of the population is close Sempervivum erythraeum Suhoto lake at an altitude of 1900 m, located near the famous Rila monastery and locations Sempervivum cilliosum and leucanthum.
