S. x rupicolum - in general
S. x rupicolum was first described by botanist Kerner in 1870.
This is a natural hybrid between S. montanum and S. wulfenii.
S. x rupicolum is (like most antural hybrids are!) rather variable hybrid, some forms of which resemble one parent more than the other, especially in regard to size of rosettes and hairy covering of rosette leaves.
Sempervivum cultivar Correvon’s Hybrid might be a form of this species.

Re: S. x rupicolum - in general
Like I said S. x rupicolum was first described by Kerner, in Zeitschr. Ferdinand. Tirol. 3. 15. 270., in year 1870. Anton Kerner von Marilaun (November 12, 1831 – 1898) was an Austrian botanist, professor at the University of Vienna.
Description as it was published in The Standard Encyclopedia of Horticulture, by L. H. Bailey, published in New York by The Macmillan Company:
Sempervivum rupicolum, Kern. Rosettes 1 1/2 - 2 in. diam., the young ones on glandular-hairy peduncles which are 1 1/2 – 2 1/2 in. long: lvs. elongated-obovate, 1/2 – 1 1/4 x 1/4 – 3/8 in., narrowed gradually from the upper one-third to the reddish base, cuspidate, slightly scattered glandular-hairy; cauline lvs. ovate-lanceolate, 3/8-3/4 in. long, tip reddish: fl.-st. slender, glandular-hairy: fls. 12-merous, pale greenish yellow, striped red; calyx-segms. oblong; petals narrowly linear-lanceolate, acute. Tyrol. —Probably a hybrid; S. montanum x S. Wulfenii.
»Variations« on the name:
S. rupicolum Kern.
S. rupicolum Kern. var. pernhofferi (Hayek) Rowley (name unsolved)
S. rupicolum pernhofferi
S. x rupicolum Kern.
Some reffer to S. rupicolum as a cultivar:
