About the name:

Sempervivum zeleborii was first described by H.W. Schott (1857), published in Pflanzen-Skizzen, in Oesterreichisches Botanisches Wochenblatt Gemeinnütziges Organ, 7: 245-246.
Name "zeleborii" is in honour of Austrian naturalist Johann Zelebor (5.12.1819, Eggenburg - 19.2.1869, Vienna)
Synonym: S. ruthenicum subsp. zeleborii (Schott) – this is the name used now.

Re: S. zeleborii in general
Sempervivum zeleborii is my very favorite plant. I saw it in nature yet only once, it was in 2011. We came to Romania and went to the Iron Gates gorge, a beautiful place on Earth! According to the information we were looking for G. Dumont location on the banks of the Danube river 4 km south of the village Cozla, we idle the 140 km extra, but worth it, there grows an interesting form of this kind to completely glabrous leaves nicméě plants and thus correspond to the description.
One plant was about to bloom, we were there too early.
Looking to Serbia
