Yes, Betty Bronow, American was quite fond of this book (at that time there were no movies!) so sjhe named several plans after characters from this Tolkien's saga.

That's how we got:
- Boromir
- Butterbur
- Eomer
- Eowyn
- Faramir
- Frodo
- Gollum
- Legolas
- Pippin
- Samwise
- Strider
- Theoden
- Threebeard
