Penones de San Francisco in Spain is a habitat of S. nevadense that grows there at 2.550 m.

It is also a habitat of S. minutum. S. minutum seems to be growing there in at least two colonies, the second one is marked as No. 2 in culture. This second plant has more hairs on the edges of the leaves as the first form.
