Smeryouka
I got, long time ago, a Jovibarba hirta from the Sempervivum Society in England with the geographical name Smeryouka. Somehow, I always linked this name with Slovakia, but in fact I have not got the faintest idea where this Smeryouka might be situated. I do not even know whether it is the name of a town/village or of a hill/mountain.
Could anyone help us out?

Re: Smeryouka
I've been wondering about "Smeryouka" for ages. Obviously the name is wrong as it is only linked to Jovibarba locality ... I've seen the place name written as "Smeryonka", but this too is most probably wrong!
I've got a record about Smerjonka, a place (village?) in Slovakia, that was ocupied by Polish army in autumn 1938.
What I can figure out from the same article is the names of some villages that were also occupied, and the names are as follows:
- Buha,
- Hora
- Hladovka
In the same article there is also written about small battle between Polish and Slovak army that took place between Zdijar and Javor (two mountains?).
(Source: newspaper Slovenski narod, 28.11.1938)
Back to present day:
Municipality Hladovka lies in Slovakia on the border with Poland. Here's a map: http://hladovka.orava.sk/j/index.php?option=com_phocamaps&view=map&id=1&Itemid=31 In this municipality one can not find any place which name resembles "Smeryouka".
No trace of villages Buha and Hora, but mountains Zdijar and Javor are to be found in Slovakia. Also no Smerjonka ...
However, there is a village named Smerdžonka, located in Slovakia, very near to Polish borderline. This might be "our mysterius Smeryouka" ...
Maybe our Slovak members will disagree!

Re: Smeryouka
The village named Smerdžonka looks like a good candidate for our Smeryouka, at least when it is in a mountainous or rocky area.
It is obvious, we desparately need the opnion of our Slovak friends!
