S. tectorum is native to Rimella, a comune in the Province of Vercelli in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 100 km northeast of Turin.

Rimella is also a name of a small village with only about 100 inhabitants.

Remmalju - Walser German
Rimela - Piedmontense
