On the edges of whitebark pine forests in Rujište, Prenj mountain in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina grows S. marmoreum.
Twenty kilometers north of town Mostar, on the outskirts of Prenj and Velež is a well-known resort Rujište. This mountainous area at an altitude of 1.050 m above sea level.
