Regec - wrong!
In the early 1980's a "strange looking" Sempervivum marmoreum was found - it had longer leaves than the usual type plant. This was near village Regec in Hungary.
Plant was named and described as S. marmoreum Gris. var. angustissimum Priszter in Soó, Magyar fl. veg. 6: 184. 1980.
ANGUSTISSIMUM is a latin word meaning "extremely narrow".
S. marmoreum var. angustissimum is now included in S. marmoreum subsp. regiane-amaliae.
A plant under a name of S. marmoreum var. angustissimum (with no locality data!) was distributed by the Botanical garden in Budapest. What's interesting si the description of this plant: It has 3,5 long and only 0,5 cm wide leaves, both surfaces covered with hair. The upper third of the leave had deep red rush. Offsest are short. Diamether of the plant is 3 to 4 cm.
Does anyone have the plant from Regec?
Maybe the correct name is: Regéc ?
