S. arachnoideum subsp. tomentosum is native to Vallée de la Tinée, France.

Vallée de la Tinée is located in Mercantour National Park aproximately 25 km away from Nice.

About the name
You can findat least three forms of the location name:
Tinée Valley = English
Vallée de la Tinée - correct name (original, if you like!)
Val Tinée = this would be kinda Italian, right?!
