Locality data
Unlike many Sempervivum, we can say that locality data for Orostachys are very rare.
Locations are very general and imprecise.
Still, they do exist and I would like to make a list of plants with known locality data in cultivation.
Some of the locations are: Altai, Bongelia, Lake Baikal, Miass, Halda, Omsk Siberia, Mongolia, Semipalatinsk...
All locations above refer to O. spinosa.
If you know other locations or you know more about the plants from this locations or you grow them, please write.
Photos are welcome.

Re: Locality data
Last week we had sunny weather with higher temperatures, and many of mine Orostachys started to wake from dormancy.
I was afraid to water them because night temperatures get as low as -4°C and low temperatures and snow
can still come back this winter. Here are some of the plants with locality data:
Orostachys sp. ex Mongolia. Tiny rosette is maybe 1,5 cm in diameter.
Orostachys spinosa ex Altai. Rosette is now about 3,5 cm in diameter, but in spring it should be 9 cm.
Orostachys spinosa ex Bongelia. Small (1,5cm), reddish rosettes. Single rosette shouldn't get bigger than 3 cm.

Re: Locality data
Wonderful photos .... We all envy you - the plants and warm weather. As for the weather, it has been anusualy warm for this time of the year here in Slovenia, too, we had 15 degress Celsius few days ago. No need to water the plants really, as the rain / snow are comming ... They'll do the job for you.

Re: Locality data
But my plants are protected from rain and snow. I think I'm gonna keep them dry for couple of more weeks.

Re: Locality data
I keep forgetting your plants are protected! Where I live we have a lot of fog and even the S. atlanticum on my upper balcony can survive with the moisture privided by fog! Though they have not been watered since October, they are fine. But than again, excessive water quickly kills S. atlanticum (have had some victims during years...).

Re: Locality data
I thought S.atlanticum needs O°C in winter...I'm very happy
if I was wrong all this time because i had to stop collecting plants that have to take indoors in winter.
We are so out of topic here

Re: Locality data
This spinosa is really tiny. Still It's bigger than O. spinosa minuta ( O.minuta) or O. thyrsiflora. At least for now.
Colors are amazing.
O. spinosa ex Lake Baikal also get red coloration but this plant is not in my collection yet.
