nice! it is great to see the overviews of where it is growing..very encouraging for me to see the trees, since this is like my place--just take away the rocks...lol this reminds me that i used to grow what i called then Sempervivum soboliferum in a bed that was mostly shady, and it grew very nicely there..

Re: Vysoké Tatry
I have seen this plants in Nízké Tatry - Nízké Tatry are only over the valley. I have written about it in my blog, also only in Czech, but there are many photos of these plants in the blog. It is set of articles. I have found there Sempervivum montanum subsp. carpathicum and Jovibarba globifera subsp. hirta var. preissiana

There are pictures of countryside in the articles. You can introduce the countryside and the mountains.

Jezour, I don't understand your language but yours pictures are beautiful.
Thanks
I have a S. montanum subsp. carpathicum. Is this plant similar to your wild plants ?
S. montanum carpaticum Kralovany S953A, Slovakia (wettsteinii)
Have you collected plants of your expeditions ?
Thanks

Re: Vysoké Tatry
Yes, these plats are similar to the wild plants in Nízké Tatry. Do you know more about the habitat? I am asking, because Kraľovany is village in the valley of the river Váh and Orava. And there are more mountains near Kraľovany - Veľká Fatra and Malá Fatra. I have read, that there is Sempervivum montanum in Malá Fatra, but it grows only on granite rocks in the south part of the mountains. I was in Malá Fatra and I did not find them. They do not grow on ridge (there is only Jovibarba globifera subsp. hirta var. preissiana). They must grow somewhere below.
Yes, I collect plants of my expeditions. But I have only two plants from Nízké Tatry (I was there, when I start taking interest about houseleeks). These plants grow good and they are producing tillers.
I am interested houseleeks not for a long time and my collection is small now. But the collection is exploding.

Thanks for your response, Jezour.
I don't know about the habitat. I have this plant from Renata Kosmac.
In the wild, what is the size of plants? My plants are very little ! (1 - 1,5 cm)

Re: Vysoké Tatry
The most frequent size is from 3 cm to 5 cm, the biggest plants have 6,5 cm on average.

Re: Vysoké Tatry
Here's one of my Sempervivum favorite, a very small houseleek which flourished since the end of August two years later than the classical S. montanum montanum.
Is this the same species? S. montanum is the earliest species to bloom with S. grandiflorum . The appearance of S. montanum carpaticum is very different because of its small size, more yellowish color and smell almost nonexistent.
S. montanum carpaticum was renamed S. wettsteinii by Letz in 1998. I do not understand why since it was sufficient to elevate carpaticum at species rank.
If someone has the original description, let me know!
S. montanum carpaticum Kralovany S953A Slovakia
Here is another plant that was given to me as S montanum carpaticum and not like the first! The rosettes are much larger, greener and more succulent.
Perhaps this is S. montanum heterophyllum ?
S. montanum carpaticum Jastrabska Skala S 053-A, Slovakia

Re: Vysoké Tatry
I think, that first Sempervivum must be S. montanum heterophyllum. The village Kraľovany lies between the ranges - Veľká Fatra and Malá Fatra. The nearest habitat of S. montanum subsp. carpathicum (wettsteinii) lies in Nízké Tatry and it is about 37 km far.
And the plants from Jastrabská skala are 100% Sempervivum montanum subsp. heterophyllum.
