What is the reason of color fading? Staining is stronger in spring, but in summer it disappears. Red semps are turn into green. What happens with yours? Question

Megines, like you have noticed, semps change colour during seasons. Red colour is especially strong in winter when the plants are resting and they do not need clorophylle (green colour).

Pretty much the same is going on in leaves of an usual European oak, apple, pear .... Colors 29562

But than again - a semp with s constant colour would be a most boring plant ever! I have - as I can recall - only one semp that stays green (pretty much the same shade of green) all year long.
