Zinal Rothorn - wrong Empty Zinal Rothorn - wrong

Post by I'm the 1 Tue Nov 17, 2009 7:47 am

I've seen it all:

S. arachnoideum cv. Zinal Rothorn
S. arachnoideum cv. Zinaler Rothorn
(cultivar named) Zinal Rothorn
S. arachnoideum ex Zinal Rothorn
S. arachnoideum ex Zinalrothorn

But which is right?

S. arachnoideum ex Zinalrothorn

The Zinalrothorn - 4.221 m above sea level - is a mountain in the Pennine Alps in Wallis, Switzerland. It got it's name from the village of Zinal lying on the north side and from the German word "Rothorn" that means "red peak".

S. arachnoideum, S. tectorum and native hybrid between both of them - S. arachnoidem x tectorum is to be found in Zinalrothorn. These plants are quite often in cultivation, mostly wrongly labeled.
