Gerard Dumont reported that S. tectorum is to be found "base du Mt Mala Mojstrovka (entre Kranjska Gora et Bovec)" - translated into English this means "base of the mountain Mala Mojstrovka (between Kranjska Gora and Bovec)".

Mala Mojstrovka - 2.332 m above sea level - is a mountain in Slovenian Alps, verly close to border with Austria and Italy. Vršič pass - 1.611 m - that lies between Kranjska Gora and Bovec is a starting point for trip to Mala Mojstrovka. Since S. tectorum is to be found at the base of this mountain, this must not be far away from Vršič pass.

In his "current holding list" from year 2006 Martin Miklanek gives the elevation of habitat as 1.600 m above sea level, which is lower than the Vršič pass itself.
