Mount Peristeri is a large limestone massif, south of the town of Metsovo in Ippiros, Thessalia, Greece. The mountain is 2.294 m high.

S. octopodes from this region was first described by B. Turrill in the Gardeners' Chronicle of October 23, 1937.

It was discovered on Mt. Peristeri in north Macedonia (as a part of Greece!), by Dr. R. Seligman, during an expedition with Dr. Giuseppi.
