Sempervivum armenum was first described by Boissier and Huet in 1856.

Description: plant has a diamther of 3,5 to 6,5 cm. Leaves are long, tips are dark brown to dark red. Plant has blue shine. It is sligtly hairy. It produces very limited number of young rosettes.

Plants in cultivation need to be protected from the winter rain.

Subordinated taxa:
S. armenum var armenum
S. armenum var. insigne

The description of Sempervivum armenum Boiss. et Huet given by Peter J. Mitchell in The Sempervivum Society Journal Volume 5 (1974), No. 4:

"A tectorum like plant with glabrous leaves and a dark tip. Young leaves at first glandular heir. Flowers pale yellow or greenish."

So, a variable characteristic or just take the most recent description and hope that it is most correct?
