The description of Sempervivum staintonii Muirhead given by Peter J. Mitchell in The Sempervivum Society Journal Volume 5 (1974), No. 4:

"Rosette 3 to 4cm in diameter, rosettes few leaved. Rosette leaves glabrous, very thick, 1.5 to 2 cm long by 7 to 8 mm broad, glaucous green in winter and turning bronze-red in summer. Flowers yellow."
