Coming to you from Vermont's Northeast Kingdom (USA)
I recently realized that I had signed up for this forum and not received a notification of membership. Lo and behold - my registration was immediately followed by a computer meltdown and I did not post in the required time frame. So-ooo, I have re-registered and am (now) introducing myself. I'm Kate and I own Labour of Love Landscaping and Nursery in northeastern Vermont (USA). The phrase Northeast Kingdom refers to the northeasternmost 3 counties in the state.
We are a full-service landscape company doing design/build and maintenance. The website is www.labouroflovelandscaping.com and had a LOT of photographs. We have a plus or minus 100 days of frost-free growing time and are Zone 3A (winters to -40).
Additionally, I have guest accommodations: the public gardens on the property are often the reason guests come. I grow my Sempervivums outdoors in raised beds (see pix on the website) and have many more of certain ones than any sane person should have. Therefore, I'm often trading or selling to try and keep them from overrunning their assigned spaces. Currently have about 120 named types and another 10 no-names.

Kate has wonderful plants. I am one of the lucky folks that she included in a trade this year. Thank you Kate!

Hi and welcome! Good to see another cold zone person, though I doubt our climates are much similar otherwise.. I'm surprised you are so cold there, I guess you have some altitude?

Altitude, a bit, maybe 2000 feet - mostly just bloodydamn cold for 5 months of the year. We're zone 3A on the North America cold hardiness map - although some say that global warming has changed it to 4A. We still get -40 from time to time, admittedly not as much as 20 years ago.
I wish it were easier to exchange plants with Canada. I have quite a few Canadian customers who summer in my area and buy plants from me for their summer places and complain that they can't take plants home with them.
