This is a new plant in my collection and I'm happy to say that It's producing offsets already.

Yes it does look healthy for now. I had big problems with white woolly aphid on my older plants.
I exchanged soil to almost all plants and soaked them in different kind of insecticides.
This plant originates from this year's exchange. I hope I exterminated all aphids and that this new plant won't have to experience those pests.
Also this white sand seemed like a good idea but in the end turned so white that it's hard to look in it Smile

I wonder if the insects you mean are what we call Mealybugs in North America? I have not had them outdoors, but they are a problem on indoor plants...
The white topdressing will soon be covered with babies Smile

Yes, the insects are Mealybugs. I had them on Aeonium so they probably came from there.
Most of my hardy plants are clean after the winter, but bugs survived on the plants that were near the south facing part of the house. Interesting how just a few degrees, and only a few meters of distance can make a difference.

I hope babies will cover sparkling white completely Very Happy

The description of Sempervivum brevipilum Muirhead given by Peter J. Mitchell in The Sempervivum Society Journal Volume 5 (1974), No. 4:

"Rosettes about 3 cm in diameter, rosette leaves 1 to 2 cm long and 7.5 mm broad, green with a minute dark apex (purple), short pubescence. Flowers greenish-yellow."

3 cm?!? My plant is either very happy or wrongly labeled...
Same plant from a photo above, one year later.
Photo was taken today (15.6.2012.)

Marko, same diamether is given by Urs Eggli in his Crassulaceae lexicon. Mind the fact that this is a diamether of a plant taken from nature. Those grown in pots can be larger because of the favourite conditions. I mean this is no not necessarily wrongly labeled plant!
