S. pittonii - culture advise? Empty S. pittonii - culture advise?

Post by illustrator Thu Jun 16, 2011 12:22 pm

Dear all,

Most of my houseleeks are doing quite well, but S. pittonii is doing poorly. I think that it is standing too moist so I plan to re-plant it to a pot which i can move out of the rain. This is a good opportunity to also change the soil. I wonder what soil to put it in, any advise specifically for this species?

Kind regards,
Paul

I grow S. pittonii in normal garden soil with sand. I do not recommend serpentine (athough they grow on it in nature) and limestone. I grow S. pittonii in a pot and the plants grow well.

Last year I moved it to a sunnier spot and it is doing very well nog also (it had sun untill the middle of the day, which was obviously not enough)

It is now in a clay pot for good drainage with a 75% sand + 25% potting soil mix.
