Description from Standard Cyclopedia of Horticulture, 1963:
Sempervivum mettenianum, Schnittsp. & Lehm. (S. parviflorum, Lehm. & Schnittsp.). Rosettes flat, l 1/4 - 2 in. diam., the young ones on peduncles 3-4 in. long, which are commonly lvd. below: lvs. ovate-lanceolate, cuspidate, base narrowed, glabrous, margin ciliate, gray-green marbled with grass-green, tip red-brown; cauline lvs. long, straight-acuminate, appressed: fl.-st. spreading, white-hairy, bearing a racemose panicle: fls. rose; petals linear-lanceolate. Cent. Eu. G.M. 57:847.— Allied to S. tectorum.
