Post by I'm the 1 on Fri Nov 20, 2009 8:44 am

I have this plant labeled as

J. sobolifera ex St. Martin, 630 m Austria JH 198

???

This will be hard nut to crack.

See, I've found this places looking for St. Martin in Austria:

Sankt Martin, Lower Austria, in Lower Austria
Sankt Martin im Innkreis, in Upper Austria
Sankt Martin im Mühlkreis, in Upper Austria
Sankt Martin an der Raab, in Burgenland
Markt Sankt Martin, in Burgenland
Sankt Martin am Tennengebirge, in Salzburg
Sankt Martin bei Lofer, in Salzburg
Sankt Martin am Grimming, in Styria
Sankt Martin am Wöllmißberg, in Styria

C'mon, all those places named St. Martin is more than enough to chose from!

Is this the place we are looking for?

Sankt Martin / St. Martin in Sulmtal
This willage is in Steimark / Styria. It is close to border with Slovenia. The elevation is 333 m, so this is not St. Martin we are looking for.

Sankt Martin / St. Martin im Innkreis
is a municipality in the district of Ried im Innkreis in Upper Austria, Austria. the elevation is 372 m. This is not the place in quetion here!

Sankt Martin / St. Martin im Mühlkreis

Sankt Martin / St. Martin am Tennengebirge
is a municipality in the state of Salzburg in Austria. Elevation of this place is 949 m - to high in mountains, this is not the place we are looking for!

Sankt Martin / St. Martin an der Raab
is a town in the district in Burgenland in Austria, on the to border with Slovenia and Hungary.
Hungarian name is: Rábaszentmárton, Rába-Szentmárton
Slovene name is: Šmartin na Rabi, Sveti Martin na Rabi
The elevation is 250 so this is not the right St. Martin.

St. Martin in Lower Austria, Gmund district
A town named St. Martin is also in the district of Gmünd in Lower Austria, Austria. The elevation of this town is 621 m.

This Jovibarba sobolifera from St. Martin JH 198 was found by me growing on the rocks along the small road from St. Martin to Harmanschlag at an elevation of about 630 m.
St. Martin is situated in Niederösterreich (Lower Austria) to the southwest of Gmünd.
I sent plants to Dr. Pasztor in Hungary.
