I am from Serbia, and have houseleek (Sempervivum tectorum) on my roof ...I started to interested for that plant and it was very strange for me because it has similar name in many cultures (houseleek, house keeper..). My mother made present for our frends ( houseleek with combination of ceramics and stone).I liked it very much.I am interested for sempervivum trough history, and art made of it....hello everyone again Smile

Dex, there is a lot of Sempervivums growing in south Serbia in nature. Your country has never been much explored as far as semp species growing in wild are in question.

If you are able to obtian (some of) those plants with geographical datas, you'll have a neverending source of plants for exchange.

Well, no problem adding a new forum about medical purposes. What bothers me is that NO ONE writes about toxic substances of semps.

Yes i heard about that, but traditionally, Houseleek is a medicinal plant ,in many countries, and it would be interesting to hear where it is overrated, and where is realy helpfull.I want to hear about how toxic it is.I didn`t find lots of material on the net about that.

Hm hm, house keeper is not an English name ... it ia s translation of čuvarkuča --- English name is houseleek! If you keep the name house keeper, state that this is a translation of the name čuvarkuča ...

Linne is L. in short, not Linn. - this is the guy that "invented" name system for plants and animals. The very first!
